Zaxbys makes its NYC debut with new locations in the Bronx and Manhattan as it plans more than 60 openings this year.

Zaxbys has opened its first restaurant in New York City, located in the Bronx, with a second location planned for Manhattan later this summer. The Atlanta-based chain aims for over 60 new restaurant openings this year and has surpassed 1,000 units nationally. Zaxbys finished 2025 with $2.5 billion in sales, reflecting a 5.2% increase year-over-year.
The entry into New York City may enhance Zaxbys' brand recognition and competitive positioning within the fast-casual segment. This expansion could also impact territory availability for potential franchisees in a key metropolitan market.
Zaxby's, the Atlanta-based fast-casual chicken chain, is making a significant expansion into the New York City market, marking its entry into the 24th state. The brand has opened its first location in the Bronx, with plans to launch a second restaurant in Manhattan later this summer. This move is part of Zaxby's ambitious strategy to establish more than 60 new restaurant openings nationwide this year, as it aims to reach a long-term goal of expanding by 100 stores annually.
CEO Bernard Acoca emphasized the importance of this expansion, stating, "New York is one of the most influential food cities in the world, and we're incredibly proud to introduce Zaxby's to this market." He noted that the Bronx location represents a significant milestone in their growth journey and expansion efforts across the Northeast. The new restaurant in the Bronx spans approximately 2,000 square feet and features both dine-in and drive-thru options, accommodating 15 guests. The upcoming Manhattan location, located at 1267 First Avenue, will offer over 2,800 square feet of space with 16 dine-in seats and modern amenities like self-service ordering kiosks.
Zaxby's concluded 2025 with impressive sales figures, reporting $2.5 billion in revenue, representing a year-over-year increase of 5.2%. The chain saw a nearly 4% growth in unit count and boasts an average unit volume exceeding $2.8 million, reflecting strong system health. This expansion is indicative of the brand's strategy to maximize its footprint in influential markets and attract new customers, including those unfamiliar with its signature dishes like Chicken Fingerz.
The pace of Zaxby’s growth this year suggests a healthy system poised for further development, but its ability to maintain this momentum in a competitive market will depend on how effectively it executes its upcoming openings and strengthens brand awareness in New York City.
