This innovative model aims to expand local access to hands-on education for children and adults, generating additional revenue to support GentleBrook's mission.
This partnership highlights potential territory expansion for educational franchise concepts, while also diversifying revenue streams for nonprofits in the sector.
Snapology, a prominent children's STEM/STEAM franchise under Unleashed Brands, has made a significant expansion into the nonprofit sector by awarding its first franchise agreement to GentleBrook, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization in Northeast Ohio. This landmark agreement will enable GentleBrook to launch a mobile Snapology franchise, aimed at providing hands-on STEAM education to the Stark County community. The mobile model allows for flexible engagement with local families through camps, school partnerships, and community events, with operations expected to begin in July and expand throughout the summer.
GentleBrook serves adults with intellectual disabilities and seniors, focusing on programming that fosters independence, growth, and community integration. The organization chose the Snapology franchise to enhance its educational offerings, believing that the program's interactive curriculum can boost confidence and social connections among its participants. Ric Brown, Vice President of Business and Fund Development at GentleBrook, expressed the organization’s enthusiasm, stating, “Our goal is to create more opportunities for the people we serve to engage with the world around them in meaningful ways, and Snapology fits beautifully into that vision.”
This partnership also aims to diversify GentleBrook’s revenue streams in light of uncertainties surrounding government funding. By investing in the Snapology franchise, the organization anticipates generating proceeds that will directly support its mission, allowing it to continue serving the community effectively. Ani Mehta, Brand President of Snapology, noted the opportunity's uniqueness, indicating, “While this opportunity sits outside of our traditional growth model, we saw it as a unique chance to create meaningful impact for this community and the families it serves.”
The adoption of a nonprofit franchise model signals a strategic approach to community engagement and sustainability for both Snapology and GentleBrook. As this initiative unfolds, the pace of further expansions and the reception of programming may indicate broader trends in the franchise sector’s adaptability to nonprofit ventures and holistic community support strategies.
