KFC Global appoints Maria Cacciapuoti as COO, aiming for operational excellence.

Maria Cacciapuoti has been named chief operations officer of KFC Global, responsible for enhancing brand experience across its over 34,000 locations worldwide. This role will involve modernizing operations and collaborating closely with franchisees as KFC embarks on a new innovation phase starting in the UK.
This leadership change could lead to significant operational adjustments affecting unit economics and overall franchisee sentiment, as KFC embarks on a modernization journey.
Maria Cacciapuoti has been appointed the chief operations officer of KFC Global, effective September 1. In her new role, she will focus on enhancing operational excellence and modernizing customer and team member experiences across KFC's extensive network of over 34,000 restaurants in more than 150 countries. Cacciapuoti, who joined KFC in 2015, has held various leadership positions in regions including Italy, Iberia, Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, and most recently North Asia.
Her previous experience includes serving as the chief commercial and operations officer at Librerie Feltrinelli and leading financial operations at Autogrill. Cacciapuoti's extensive background, which spans over 20 years in the restaurant and retail sectors, also includes a significant tenure at McDonald’s as a national franchising controller in Italy. Her educational credentials include a degree in economics and finance from the University Federico II of Naples and an MBA from SDA Bocconi.
Cacciapuoti's appointment follows KFC Global CEO Scott Mezvinsky's recent initiatives aimed at revitalizing the brand, which include launching new menu items, a refreshed brand identity, and modernized restaurant designs. These changes will first roll out in the United Kingdom and Ireland before expanding to Australia and the U.S. Additionally, Mezvinsky highlighted that this "next chapter" aims to bring "new energy and expression" to the brand while reaffirming KFC's commitment to its core chicken offerings.
Cacciapuoti's appointment signals a strategic shift towards enhancing operational strategies and partnerships with franchisees, which may indicate KFC's priorities for continued growth in a challenging dining market. The brand's success in these initiatives may depend on how effectively Cacciapuoti can implement operational improvements alongside the ongoing innovation efforts.
