Krispy Kreme accelerates growth in Brazil with two new Hot Light Theater Shops this year.

Krispy Kreme Brazil has announced the opening of two new Hot Light Theater Shops in São Paulo, marking the brand's first anniversary in the market. The new openings will serve as retail and production hubs, expanding the brand's reach with iconic offerings and localized flavors. This comes as part of Krispy Kreme's goal to open more than 100 new shops globally this year.
This expansion may compress available territories for potential franchisees in major Brazilian markets, highlighting the brand's commitment to strong international growth.
Krispy Kreme is set to expand its presence in Brazil with the opening of two new Hot Light Theater Shops in São Paulo, aligning with the brand's international growth trajectory. The first shop commenced operations on May 6, 2026, and a second is slated for later in the year. These outlets will function as both retail environments and production hubs, enhancing distribution and access to their signature doughnuts, including localized offerings like dulce de leche and cinnamon sugar.
João Luiz Marçola, CEO of Krispy Kreme Brazil, emphasized the significance of strategic locations in this expansion, stating, “We’re entering a new phase of our expansion in Brazil, focusing on strategic locations that allow us to bring the Krispy Kreme experience to new parts of the city.” This approach is designed to deliver the full brand experience while supporting growth through a structured operational model.
Currently, the flagship shop in São Paulo serves as a central production site, distributing freshly made doughnuts to multiple locations throughout the city. Krispy Kreme's overall strategy is further underscored by comments from CEO Josh Charlesworth, who noted, “This momentum reinforces the strength of our capital-light international franchise model as we work toward our goal of opening more than 100 new shops this year.”
As Krispy Kreme continues to navigate its expansion in a high-performing market like Brazil, this initiative points to a robust health within the franchise system. The focus on localized products and multiple unit operations suggests a strong commitment to authentic offerings tailored to local consumer preferences. Moving forward, the pace at which Krispy Kreme can sustain its expansion will depend on consumer demand and the effectiveness of its new operational infrastructure.
