Cava aims to hire 2,500 as it prepares to open 75 new restaurants this year.

Cava is launching a major hiring initiative to bring on over 2,500 team members as it prepares to open 75 new locations this year. This follows the addition of a net of 72 units last year, showcasing Cava's commitment to growth and employee development through initiatives like 'Flavor Your Future.' The restaurant aims to reach 1,000 locations by 2030.
This hiring push suggests Cava is positioning itself for significant growth, which may impact territory availability and competition in the fast-casual segment. Increased investment in team members and leadership roles could enhance unit economics and franchisee performance.
Cava, the fast-casual Mediterranean chain, is embarking on an ambitious expansion plan for 2025, aiming to hire over 2,500 new team members as it opens approximately 75 new restaurants this year. This follows a net addition of 72 units in the previous year, reflecting a steady growth trajectory within the brand, which currently operates 459 units nationwide. The hiring initiative is part of Cava's "Flavor Your Future" program, designed to attract and retain talent by offering significant career advancement opportunities.
Cava's Chief People Officer, Kelly Costanza, emphasized the importance of team member growth, stating, “The most rewarding part of our growth is seeing our team members grow alongside the company.” This initiative includes the recent introduction of the assistant general manager (AGM) position, which has shown to improve restaurant performance, and so far, 60% of those promoted to AGM roles this year have been internal candidates.
In addition to competitive salaries, Cava has enhanced its benefits package for leaders, which now includes long-term incentive equity grants linked to hiring and promotion outcomes. Other employee benefits involve comprehensive healthcare coverage, a 401(k) plan with company matching, tuition assistance, parental and bereavement leave, wellness programs, pet insurance, and meal discounts during shifts.
Cava's strategic focus on talent development supports its goal of reaching 1,000 locations by 2030, a significant growth milestone. COO Doug Thompson commented on this vision, stating, “Our company’s growth is only possible with our team members’ growth.” The broader restaurant industry is experiencing a hiring surge, with 48,000 jobs added in May alone.
Cava's robust hiring initiative and expansion efforts suggest a healthy system poised for sustained growth, especially as it seeks to capitalize on increasing demand in the dining sector. Looking ahead, the key factor will be how effectively Cava manages this rapid growth and its ability to activate a skilled workforce to support its operational needs.
