Capriotti's celebrates milestones while expanding its footprint with new restaurant openings and development agreements.

Capriotti's Sandwich Shop has opened 12 new restaurants and awarded rights for 30 additional locations as part of its '50-50-50' initiative. This program seeks to introduce Capriotti's into new markets while targeting a growth goal of reaching 750 restaurants by 2032. The brand's efforts are part of its 50th anniversary celebration, further establishing its presence in the fast-casual franchise segment.
This expansion may compress available territories for new franchisees, indicating a competitive landscape as Capriotti's actively pursues aggressive growth targets. Additionally, the discounts on franchise fees and royalties could attract new partners, potentially shifting unit economics within the expanding markets.
Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop is experiencing significant growth during its 50th anniversary year, with the opening of 12 new locations and the awarding of development rights for 30 additional units. This expansion marks a strategic step toward reaching the brand's ultimate goal of 750 restaurants by 2032. The new restaurant openings are situated in diverse markets including Lake County, Illinois; Killeen, Texas; Tempe, Arizona; Southern Utah; Charleston, South Carolina; and Fort Wayne, Indiana, demonstrating Capriotti’s intention to broaden its national presence.
The “50-50-50” franchise growth initiative is actively driving this momentum, offering qualified new franchise partners up to $50,000 in savings through incentives on franchise fees and royalties. Capriotti’s aims to add 50 new franchise partners as part of this effort, highlighting the health of its franchise development and brand appeal. Ashley Morris, CEO of Capriotti’s, stated, “Our 50th anniversary is all about creating momentum for the future while we celebrate our history,” reflecting on the brand's robust performance and its strong franchisee partnerships.
Additionally, the brand has been recognized in the industry as it ranked No. 12 on Fast Casual’s Top 100 Movers & Shakers List, marking its sixth consecutive appearance. Marketing Vice President Tamara Stanley also garnered recognition as one of the Top 30 Movers & Shakers in Restaurant Marketing.
Capriotti’s growth pace suggests a healthy franchise system as it continues to attract both new and experienced operators, focusing on future expansion while celebrating its historical legacy. Looking ahead, the ability to maintain this growth trajectory throughout the second half of the year may depend on how effectively the brand capitalizes on new franchisee engagements.
